About the Coach

Why I coach

Hi, I'm Ben. My passion for coaching started long before I ever began working with teams or running camps. Growing up in Sherwood Park, I wanted to be a goalie more than anything, but real goalie coaching just didn’t exist. Camps were crowded, expensive, and rarely gave goalies the individual attention they needed.

My dad saw how much I cared and took it upon himself to learn the position from the ground up. He studied goaltending, broke down the mechanics, and teamed up with his friend Bob Goulden to create a camp that finally gave local goalies real teaching and one-on-one time. I grew up attending that camp every summer and eventually started coaching in it as well. Over the years, goalies who came through that camp have earned Division I scholarships and even begun professional careers.

That experience shaped everything about the way I coach today. Goalie development should not be generic or rushed. Every goalie has their own strengths, habits, and challenges, and they deserve coaching that reflects that. My mission is to continue the legacy my dad and Bob started by providing personalized coaching built around the individual athlete.
